Fitting a room divider screen in to small rooms
Whether you have large or small rooms in your home a room divider screen can add an extra dimension to it. You might think that the rooms in your home are too small to have a screen in it, but sometimes you need to get creative as to how you can use that space. A room that is too big can sometimes be as difficult to furnish as a small room so here are 3 ways that you can use a room divider screen in any room no matter of the size:
When people think of room divider screens, they think that you actually want to use the screen to partition your room off. The chances are that you want to buy a screen because you love the ornate patterns and designs that are on then, and not that you want to partition your room up at all. If you’ve got a small room, why not mount your screen on the wall? You will still be able to appreciate it’s beauty and it won’t eat up any valuable room space. Some of the more traditional screens are made from traditional paper and by mounting your room divider screen on the wall it will also keep it out of harms way so you can enjoy it for longer.
You might want to put a screen in your bedroom, and their traditional use of a privacy screen to get changed behind does lend themselves well to this room. I doubt that there are many people though that actually do use these screens to get changed behind, nevertheless they still look great, but how can you fit it in? Perhaps you’ve got a corner of your room where your linen bin is, putting the screen around the linen bin means that it won’t really take up much more space than the linen bin it’s self. If you were going to do this though I would definitely recommend getting a stronger screen, if you use your linen bin most days then you will need to move the screen to get to it. A fragile screen would quickly wear so it is best avoided.
The third way that you can fit a screen in to your room would be to put it in front of the window. If you have nets up at your window because you are overlooked you can take these down so that everyone in the street can admire your new screen. If you were going to use your screen to go in front of a window I would definitely recommend choosing a screen that allows a little bit of light to come through. Whether this in the from of a carved lattice, or the use of a translucent material is up to you, but if it’s going in front of a window you definitely want to allow some light to pass through it, otherwise your room is going to be a very dark place throughout the day.
Hopefully these three ideas will have given you some inspiration as to how you can fit a room divider screen in to your home.
